Puppy Inquiry Response
email responses to Debi@heirloommastiffs.com
Thank you for your interest in acquiring a Mastiff puppy from Heirloom Mastiffs. Currently there are no breedings planned.
Since you have seen my webpage, you know that I will not breed often and will really try to breed puppies that fit the standard of the breed, have wonderful temperaments and will live long, healthy lives. First of all, this breed is a companion for its owners. As much as I love the breed, I know that it is not the right one for everyone.
I'm glad you have done some reading and research. I highly recommend that you visit Deb Jones' website for more information about the Mastiff. That URL is:
Deb Jones Mastiff Information or http://devinefarm.net/home/
You can follow the links for health information as well as litters available.
You might also attend dog shows in your area so you can meet Mastiffs up close and personal. Most Mastiff owners are happy to have you meet their dogs once they are through showing. The show superintendents are MBF-Inc, and Jack Bradshaw.
The URLs are listed below:
Since I will only breed primarily to have my next show dog, it is important to me to breed puppies that are of the best quality that I can. My pick puppies (male and female) would normally be $3,000. I expect to sell the rest of the puppies in the litter for $2,500. That is probably on the lower end of what this kind of breeding is worth, but I'm most interested in finding really good homes. If you would like to be added to my list, please let me know. I will notify everyone when a breeding takes place and again once when we have puppies. At that time I will ask for a deposit from those still interested in a puppy.
I will sell pups on a limited registration and a spay/neuter contract. Puppies will be evaluated between 6-7 months for those interested in showing. Once the puppy has be altered (at about 18 months of age), I will refund a portion of the purchase price. All puppies are sold on contract that gives me the first right of refusal should you decide at some time you cannot keep the dog. I never want one of my puppies to end up homeless at some time in their life.
I have a few questions for you regarding your family situation that will help me determine if a Mastiff would be suitable for your environment and if so, which puppy would be best suited for your household.
Do you have any children living with you or visiting on a regular basis and what are their ages?
Do you have other pets and what are they, ages, sex and are they spayed/neutered?
Do you own or rent a house?
Do you have a fenced yard, size and kind of fencing?
Have you ever owned another large breed dog before?
How did you decide on owning a Mastiff and what do you like best about the breed?
What activities do you plan on doing with your Mastiff?
Is there anyone home during the day? If not, how will you care for the puppy while you are away?
Where will the Mastiff be kept during the day? At night? While you are on vacation?
These are just a few of the questions I ask people interested in acquiring a puppy. Responsible breeders really care about where their puppies are placed and expect to stay in touch with the new owners for the life of the puppy. I hope this information helps you, and thank you for your interest in a Heirloom Mastiff puppy.
Sincerely,
Debi Flocchini
